Graphic Design

for American Hiking Society (summer 2026)

American Hiking sends 2026 annual report to 80,000+ volunteers, partners, and sponsors

The job:
To celebrate their 50th annual National Trails Day®, American Hiking Society sought to create an annual report that recapped the event’s impact and expressed their gratitude for their federal partners, corporate sponsors, and participating volunteers.

My role:
As the graphic designer, I was responsible for designing the entirety of the Annual Report for National Trails Day® 2026, with explicit directions to improve the aesthetic of previous reports while maintaining brand consistency.

Biggest challenge:
With over 1,400 events across the United States, National Trails Day® was supported by 80,000 volunteers, 10 corporate sponsors, and hundreds of federally-affiliated partners. As such, our annual report needed to reasonably represent the scale of the effort, while being restrained to just 21 pages. To do so, I sought a diverse range of quotes, pictures, stories, and more to properly demonstrate the event’s reach and impact.

Focus:
Graphic design, story-telling

Goal:
Annual report, partner engagement

Industry:
Outdoor recreation, federal partner non-profit
